| Update! Here are the slides from the presentation. Get a link of the entire Zoom conversation emailed to you from Kathy at ksharkey711@gmail.com. We welcome back Beryl Schwartz Steinbach ’78, who will lead us in a discussion of this timely topic. Do join us even if you haven’t read the book to find out more. In this anthology, “A Map Is Only One Story: Twenty Writers on Immigration, Family, and the Meaning of Home,” writers (and cartoonists) share stories of migration, family and the search for home and belonging. From rediscovering an ancestral village in China to experiencing the realities of American life as a Nigerian, the search for belonging crosses borders and generations. The essays highlight the human side of immigration policies and polarized rhetoric as writers share provocative personal stories of existing between languages and cultures. Edited by Nicole Chung and Mensah Demary. Topic: Class of '78 Common Read Time: Nov 4, 2026 07:30 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) As always, the conversations will be recorded and posted on the 1978 Facebook page. A YouTube link can also be requested from Kathy Sharkey. |
