Elizabeth (Betsy) Denning Trescher notified your scribes of the passing of one of our classmates who graduated with the class of 1980. She wrote, “It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Jane Alexander ’80. Jane and I were roommates in the basement of North Rocky our freshman year, and she became my lifelong friend and confidant. We got together often over the years, including 4 times in the last year of her life, despite the great distance between our homes (Boston area to MI, my home). Sadly, within a few days she was to vacation with 3 generations of my family in ME. Instead, I attended Jane’s wake with another dear friend, Sally Cooper Wyman ’77. Jane was devoted to the service of others, and I called her our generation’s Mother Teresa.” Betsy provided a beautiful tribute which can be found in the online edition of the Quarterly (magazine.mtholyoke.edu).
